William Swan Plumer (1802-1880) was an American Presbyterian minister. His commentaries on Psalms, Romans and Hebrews are widely appreciated. This little doctrinal work was produced to provide a basic introduction to doctrine for new Christians. The thirty-three short but satisfying chapters broadly follow the structure of the Westminster Confession of Faith. It is rare to find sound doctrine expressed as this is, in such a readable form and this ensures the continuing usefulness of this work.
