The Rock of Our Salvation is a readable survey of all aspects of the character and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. His treatment is extremely valuable, and even when the author simply lists information, the reader will find much encouragement. Each chapter has either numbered applications, direct exhortations to turn to Christ and depend entirely upon Him for salvation and every needed blessing, or the author’s prayer-response to the material he has covered.
About the Author
William Swan Plumer (1802-1880) was an American Presbyterian minister. His commentaries on Psalms and Romans are widely appreciated.
William S. Plumer's work may have been written back in 1867 with various editions leading up to this one in 2012, nevertheless it is an excellent and succinct survey of the various aspects of Christ's person, character, work, sufferings, offices, and more, expounded by a premier American statesman (and NH Senator, eventually becoming Gov. of NH. around 1819), Baptist, and lawyer . So even though this book is significantly dated, what's amazing is that the Bible principles are practically timeless. Mr. Plumer wrote with great clarity and variety of thought that truly adds important considerations to the subject of the Lord Jesus Christ. — William Hardecker Jr.
